OpenClaw โ€” The Full Package

OpenClaw is the original and most capable personal AI agent platform. It runs on any Linux server, connects to Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, and more, and has a full skill marketplace (ClawMart) where you can install pre-built workflows in minutes.

The setup takes 20โ€“30 minutes but it's well-documented. Once you're up, you get a persistent agent that runs heartbeats, manages memory across sessions, and can be fully customised with skills and personas.

Best for: Anyone who wants a serious personal AI agent and is willing to spend an hour on setup. The default choice for most users.

NemoClaw โ€” OpenClaw With a Security Layer

NemoClaw is NVIDIA's open source security and privacy stack built on top of OpenClaw. It's not a simplified variant โ€” it's the same OpenClaw agent platform with NVIDIA's trust infrastructure added on top.

The key addition is NVIDIA OpenShell, a runtime that enforces policy-based privacy and security guardrails. This gives you control over how your agent behaves and handles data โ€” useful if you're running sensitive workflows or want to ensure your agent can't do things outside a defined scope.

NemoClaw also evaluates your local compute resources and can run high-performance open models like NVIDIA Nemotron locally. This means lower costs and stronger privacy for users who have the hardware. For those without, a privacy router connects to cloud-based frontier models within the defined guardrails.

Setup is a single curl command and it's currently in early preview.

Best for: Privacy-conscious users, enterprises, or anyone who wants to run open models locally with security guardrails in place. Not a beginner variant โ€” it's OpenClaw plus more control.

ZeroClaw โ€” Bring Your Own Everything

ZeroClaw is the developer variant. It ships with zero opinions about which model you use, how you configure channels, or what your memory system looks like. You get the engine and the plugin infrastructure โ€” the rest is yours to build.

It supports the full OpenClaw skill spec, so ClawMart skills are compatible, but you'll need to wire up the integrations yourself. Power users love this; everyone else should start with OpenClaw first.

Best for: Developers building custom agent workflows, or power users who want full control over every config option.

Which one should you use?

For 90% of people: OpenClaw. It has the most support, the largest skill ecosystem, and the most guides available (including everything on this site).

If privacy and security guardrails matter to you โ€” or you want to run open models like Nemotron locally โ€” choose NemoClaw. It's the same OpenClaw foundation with NVIDIA's security layer on top.

Only choose ZeroClaw if you know you need the flexibility and you're comfortable with manual configuration.
